Speaking to L'Equipe and as reported by Mail Online, the former French international defender announced that discussions had been held between the player and the club about his potential transfer out of Parc des Princes.
Liverpool have been linked with a summer offer for the player recently, as they are looking to provide Alberto Moreno with competition down the left side. It's believed Jose Enrique has been told he can leave if an offer comes in, and Brendan Rodgers has admitted previously that he is looking to bring fierce competition for places to the squad next season.
They could target Digne and let go of the Spaniard, though Liverpool face competition from Atletico Madrid and Roma - who have also been linked. But despite the speculation and the will on the player's part to leave the club, the 22-year-old has remained very professional throughout the process - according to his boss.
Blanc said: "First, it is he who very clearly asked to leave. For now, he is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. He has shown the results in friendlies.
"This is firstly a very good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season."
Liverpool have been extremely busy adding to their squad this summer, with Christian Benteke the latest player to complete his move to Anfield on Wednesday. The Belgian joined from Aston Villa for £32.5m, and will play alongside the likes of James Milner, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino this season.
Their spending has now reached the £75m mark for the summer, and despite suggestions that the Benteke signing could be Liverpool's last before the new season, the club are thought to be open to possibilities should any targets become available.
